Jack Lew – Gesture Drawing for Animation

Jack LewAbout Jack Lew

Professor Jack Lew spent 6 years as Artist Development Manager at Disney teaching drawing to some of the top animators in the field.  DeTao iacc presents a unique opportunity to learn from one of the world’s leading drawing instructors in this unmissable masterclass.

Class Introduction

Drawing skills for animation require more than the traditional studio skills of meticulous accuracy. Animation sketching must invoke the narrative intent of the pose showing action and expression quickly. These drawing workshops will focus on capturing the essence of the figure using the same gesture and rapid drawing methods employed by today’s successful animators. Established professionals as well as entry level artists in the field will benefit from this expressive approach, an approach that has been taught for decades in US animation studios and college art programs.
